Reboot

I’ve owned domains for over 15 years now, starting with Orner.net. Later, I was able to obtain Orner.com, and I’ve used it in the past, but right now it’s idle. I’ve started other domains, both for myself and for others. I’ve created pages with hand-made HTML, Wordpress, Dupal, and other technologies. This time, it’s with Jekyll.
I’ve also been rethinking the “branding” of my professional and computer work. The Orner.net domain is a nice family domain, and I could use it, but it seems like a better thing to start out a bit fresh, with a new brand. “One Point Crib” is that new brand.
I’m linking all of my computer-based projects to this website. I plan to write a little bit, and when I come up with something I want to preserve, this will be a good place to put it. Mail will continue to come to my old email lance@orner.net, since I’ve had that address for a long time, and I don’t want to change it.
Jekyll is nice, because these pages are created with Vim and Markdown, and since they’re static pages, I can store the whole thing in Git for version control. More can be done with CSS than I’ve done before, so that’s something I’ll have to experiment with. However, I like the clean look at some of these default templates, so I’ll stay with this. Jekyll will put these text files into RSS and automatically update the blog pages, and I’m excited about this approach.
